Training for nursing students and other healthcare workers.
Nurse Aide Training
New admission standards in the Wright State University College of Nursing and Health require students to complete a Nurse Aide Training program as a prerequisite to beginning nursing coursework. The Nursing Institute is now offering the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Training program.
Our university-based program provides a more in-depth and extensive educational opportunity than what can be found in other trainings. The 107.5 hour program includes lecture presentation, laboratory practice and clinical application in a Long-Term Care facility. Upon completion, the student is qualified to take the State Nurse Aide test in order to work as a STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide). In the future, the classroom component will be available fully online.
This program is available to persons in the community, if seating space permits. Priority seating will be given to Wright State University nursing students.
CLASS SCHEDULE for Summer 2014 will be posted soon
All classes, labs and clinicals held at Bethany Village, 6451 Far Hills Ave., Centerville OH 45459

**IMPORTANT NOTE TO VETERANS: Your GI Bill will pay for this program. Please complete the registration form (no prepayment required), then contact the WSU VA Office ASAP at 775-5550, 244 Student Union, who will provide us with confirmation.
The Nursing Institute is an approved provider for continuing nursing education through the Ohio Nurses Association. As stated in the Ohio Nurses Association Provider Manual, “continuing nursing education consists of planned, organized learning experiences designed to improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of nurses. It enhances nursing practice, education, theory development, research and administration. The outcome of continuing education is to improve the health of the public and nurses’ pursuit of their professional career goals.” The Nursing Institute provides and co-provides fee-based continuing education activities to service the needs of nurses in the community.

One Health Approach
A good all hazards response plan is critical to management of a serious public health event. Health professionals do not often have opportunities to practice using their all hazards response plan. This half-day tabletop exercise will use a multifaceted disease outbreak to guide multidisciplinary teams through the steps of a disease investigation.
