NCLEX

Successful completion of the Wright State University – College of Nursing and Health (WSU-CONH) nursing program by pre-licensure students leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and eligibility to take the NCLEX® (National Council of State Boards Licensure Examination) to obtain licensure as a registered nurse (RN).

A graduate from WSU-CONH may apply for initial licensure in any state. Once initial licensure has been obtained, the RN wishing to obtain licensure in another state does so by endorsement.

For more information, please visit the Ohio Board of Nursing website

For new licensure information, please visit the Ohio Board of Nursing Licensure and Renewal Information page.

WHEN TO APPLY FOR TESTING AND LICENSURE

One of the best descriptions of the application and licensure process is detailed on the NCSBN web site.  Please click here to view the 2014 NCLEX information flyer, which includes "The Eight Steps to the NCLEX."

Applications may be filed with OBN and registration may occur with Pearson Vue during the last semester.  The fees are non-refundable so be sure there are no barriers to the planned graduation schedule.  Once a student completes all the graduation requirements of Wright State University (WSU) and the College of Nursing & Health (CONH) AND meets any outstanding financial responsibilities to the University, the WSU-CONH will send notification to OBN that the student has completed the program.  This is done in a timely manner after graduation.

Students who will be obtaining initial licensure other than in Ohio are encouraged to review information from that state on application process.

Students and graduates should feel free to contact the CONH Student Success Program for questions or concerns related to the NCLEX-RN® testing process and/or licensure.  Please contact the Suzanne Homer, the Nursing Student Success Program Director, at 937-775-3044.  She can also be reached via email, suzanne.homer@wright.edu, or feel free to stop by her office in 388 University Hall.
